Oh hello, Friday!

So you know that scene from Elf when Will Ferrell is making paper snowflakes, his hands are moving a mile a minute and paper is flying everywhere? That's how I felt this week. My office looks like a tornado blew through, but somehow I think that is the mark of a successful week. :)

1. I've had "Wake Me Up" by Avicii & Aloe Blacc stuck in my head all week...its such a feel good song!

2. Tuesday was the Phillies 1st ever Bark at the Park, so of course we HAD to go. Look at that face, Wrigley was lovin' it. The Phillies and PAWS did such a good job with the event! The dogs were all in a rooftop section of the ballpark and since dog people are the best people we made lots of new friends. We were on the big screen several times and even made it on the tv broadcast!

3. I've kept a "Plan to read" list for as long as I can remember and Memoirs of a Geisha has been on it forever. I finally picked it up this week and am kicking myself for not reading it sooner, it is SO good. (I know I'm like 10 years behind on this one...)

4. My mom has been torturing me with beautiful lake photos for the last few days. How gorgeous was this sunset? Oh, to have that view...makes me lakesick, time to go back!

5. There is a 9/11 Memorial park near my house so on Wednesday I decided to take my lunch over and spend some time there. It is such a beautifully done, serene tribute to all who died with special memorials for those from Pennsylvania and the 17 from Bucks County. I can't believe it has been 12 years...

"Found" Fall Mantel

eek, sorry for the grainy pic!

With the exception of my Rub 'n Buff Pumpkins I was able to put this display together with items found around the house. I started with my trusty old window and a simple kraft paper & twine banner I whipped up using my Silhouette.

I added a glitzy gold pumpkin & plate with skeleton key.

The star of the show is my big mercury glass owl. She sits on top of my grandma's old Agatha Christie books - I love any reason to show those off!

My Rub 'n Buff Pumpkins tie everything together!

Gilded Gold & Silver Pumpkins

Do you like my gilded gourds? I was in a pickle. I'm using neutral colors in my fall decorating this year and wanted to add some pumpkins. Orange was a bit too bright and white was just too blah... I picked up some foam pumpkins from the Dollar Tree & a few tubes of the magic elixir: Rub 'N Buff.

This was my first time using Rub 'N Buff so I was a little nervous. Turns out there was no reason to be, it really could not be easier to use. All you do is put a dab of Rub 'N Buff on a soft cloth (I used a tissue) and rub (' buff!) it onto your item. A dab goes a looong way so I have lots left for future projects.
now if I could just get it off my fingernails

I did a few pumpkins with Silver Leaf and a few with Grecian Gold...

Then I decided to get fancy and make a gold dipped pumpkin.

And then I got really fancy and made a two-tone pumpkin...my favorite of the bunch!

I am loving the look and the ease of using Rub 'n Buff. I've got about a thousand things I'd like to try it on...a frame! a lamp! my front door! (just kidding...)
or am I?

High Five For Friday!

1. Our new dining room chairs came this week! (Half of them at least, I'm waiting on the bench) How cute is this shipping box? I opened my door to see "Looks like someone's decorating"...cue my squeal.

2. On Monday I had my first pumpkin latte of the season...happiness in a cup. :) I also worked on a few fall projects. Those metallic gourds in the picture? I'll be sharing how I made them on Monday!

3. I shared how I made this pretty (and easy!) fall wreath on Wednesday. I haven't actually put it on the door yet, it kind of clashes with my pink petunias which are still blooming out of control... {wreath post}

4.Right now I am in the middle of It Starts With Food. There has been so much buzz about this book and the paleo diet lately. While I do not follow the paleo lifestyle I do 100% subscribe to the idea of picking whole foods over processed ones as much as possible. That definitely isn't always easy in our society...and I'm fairly certain my above latte does not fall into that category...

5. My sister talked my whole family into doing a fantasy football league. Never in a millon years did I think I would do fantasy football, but I couldn't say no to her! I proudly present: Team Unicorns&Glitter (and of course, my team logo is pink - I won the award for best helmet!). I'm actually kind of excited about it - this week I go head to head with my hubby's team.

Hope you have a fantastic weekend! :)

Fall Wreath with Glittery Gold Monogram

Are you ready for fall? I sure am! I decided to get a jump on things and start some fall projects this weekend. First up - some new fall door décor!

Here's how I did it:

I used an 18" grapevine wreath form, a package of faux leaves from JoAnn Fabrics and a glittery antique gold R I had in my stockpile. The burlap bow was already on the wreath form. Want to know a secret? I reuse my wreath forms since I almost never reuse a wreath. This form started as my fall wreath last year, then was my Mossy Monogram Wreath this spring & summer. In the end this project cost me a whopping $1 for the leaves.

I layered the leaves, hot gluing as I went. I wanted the leaves to fan out from where the monogram would be so I picked a center point and worked outwards in each direction.

Then I simply hot glued the letter to the leaves and trimmed up the burlap. Ta dah! Not too shabby for $1.

Do you decorate for fall? I know I can't be the only one!

Overcoming Decorating ADD

Happy Labor Day! Hopefully none of you have to labor today. :)

I have a serious case of decorating ADD at the moment. Mixed with a side of "more ideas than time". You could be suffering from this (non-deadly & completely made up) disease and not even know it!

Signs & symptoms may include:
-10+ pages full of plans & ideas (mine manifests via PowerPoint)
-"Project supplies" stockpiled in nearly every drawer, closet, etc...
-Sleepless nights caused by the inability to quiet your creative mind
there is no known cure

So what is on top of my list at the moment? The dining room! I mentioned before that we were losing dining chairs left and right recently. Our dining set is older and the chairs just couldn't hold up to regular use. We are down to a chair and a half (meaning one is useable and one is for looks) This is what we've been working with:

sorry friends, you really can't come for dinner

New seating has been ordered and I'm impatiently awaiting its delivery. Check that off the list! Next up - a few fall projects. Then a mini bedroom makeover. Nothing major, just paint, touch-ups and a few diy projects. Then I'll finally finish my office. Then... you see where this is going...

And how cute is this idea?! I'm participating in a Mug Swap over at Girl Meets Camera. I just answered a few quick questions and will get matched with a swap buddy. We'll each shop for a coffee mug for the other and mail them out. So fun! You can join through Sept 11 so check it out!
