<br><br>
Nothing puts a damper on your excitement to move into a new rental than the list of things you <I>CAN'T</I> do. I get it, I've lived in 3 rentals in the last 5 years. Whatever your reason for renting I think it is so important to make it your own. Here are a few of my favorite ways to add personality to your rental!
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pFSiGE5kwqs/UwFTfFaNGsI/AAAAAAAAA4w/n2nLDnozJg8/s1600/MirrorMe.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pFSiGE5kwqs/UwFTfFaNGsI/AAAAAAAAA4w/n2nLDnozJg8/s400/MirrorMe.png" /></a></div>
1. PAINT<br> But check with your landlord first! I always ask if painting is allowed when looking at a new place & an apartment would have to be pretty special for me to pick one with a 'no paint' rule. I've found that most landlords are fine with painting as long as you paint it back to white when you move out. My rule is if we plan to live there for at least another year then break out the paint brush. If painting an entire room is too much of a commitment you can always paint one accent wall!
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FO_jVToeZHU/UwFfwln9OOI/AAAAAAAAA5E/EH_VybQgToI/s1600/PottedHosta.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FO_jVToeZHU/UwFfwln9OOI/AAAAAAAAA5E/EH_VybQgToI/s640/PottedHosta.png" /></a></div>
<br>
2. PLANT<br>
We have some rules about what you can and can't plant where I live. To make sure I am in compliance I decided to plant a large urn with flowers. (above) Container gardening is great for rental living because you can bring it with you when you leave. I had a potted geranium that moved 3 times! If your rental has a balcony you can grow some herbs & veggies which I plan to do this summer.
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QgXt-zPX3TU/UwFiXAXFNII/AAAAAAAAA5Y/IhbKCX8V-to/s1600/OfficeChandy.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QgXt-zPX3TU/UwFiXAXFNII/AAAAAAAAA5Y/IhbKCX8V-to/s400/OfficeChandy.png" /></a></div>
<br>
3. LIGHTING<br>
Odds are your rental doesn't have the most fab light fixtures, am I right? My office doesn't even have wiring for an overhead light so I rewired the chandelier shown above to plug in. (Of course then you have to figure out what to do with the cord, but that's another post all together) We also just replaced a boring canister light in our kitchen with a cute pendant. My dad gave me a crash course in hanging light fixtures - I told my husband not to be shocked if he comes home one day and all of the lighting has been changed. If you decide to swap out a fixture just store the original in a safe place and swap them back before you move out.
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WGea6Wzjf-g/UwFpLK1xSsI/AAAAAAAAA5o/JIbL_b4fmr4/s1600/showerhead.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WGea6Wzjf-g/UwFpLK1xSsI/AAAAAAAAA5o/JIbL_b4fmr4/s400/showerhead.jpg" /></a></div>
<br>
4. THE SMALL STUFF<BR>
If you only decide to do one thing make it this one! I <I>always</I> put up my own shower head. (How do you live without a handheld shower head? How do you wash your hair? Haha, I can't.) Other easy upgrades that I feel can be worth the investment? Faucets, cabinet knobs & even toilet seats. These small changes can make even the most basic rental bathroom feel a bit more upscale.
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2uOtWFJYBAA/UwFq2I6_5xI/AAAAAAAAA50/XrGzlKo6EYA/s1600/FlowersCoffeeTable.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2uOtWFJYBAA/UwFq2I6_5xI/AAAAAAAAA50/XrGzlKo6EYA/s400/FlowersCoffeeTable.jpg" /></a></div>
<Br>
5. FURNISH<BR>
Don't go overboard with big box budget furnishings! I love me some IKEA but most of my furnishings have come from thrift stores, Homegoods or antique shops. You'll probably find a better deal and your home will have more of a collected look as opposed to the "I just went on an IKEA shopping spree" look. When you take time to find or transform pieces into things you love you'll never regret it.
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UzCAXgpw_Wo/UwFryOL574I/AAAAAAAAA6A/u-MhT-C-Ukw/s1600/myhome.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UzCAXgpw_Wo/UwFryOL574I/AAAAAAAAA6A/u-MhT-C-Ukw/s400/myhome.jpg" /></a></div>
<br><br>
6. APPRECIATE<BR>
It is easy to see all of the gorgeous pictures from pinterest, blogs & magazines and hate that your rental doesn't look like that. You have to keep in mind exactly why you are renting in the first place. Whether you are living in military housing, a student apartment of saving for your forever home take a moment to appreciate why you're there. For us it means that we get to live in a town we probably couldn't afford otherwise, we live near friends (some who used to live below us!), the hubs has an easy drive to work and we are close to both of our families. These are all things that are extremely important to us so it is the perfect reminder to appreciate our condo.

And now...
<br><br>
You know I love a good thrift store challenge! I found a large framed mirror for $5 - it needed some attention but the lines reminded me of Restoration Hardware's <a href="http://www.restorationhardware.com/catalog/product/product.jsp?productId=prod2770013&categoryId=cat1580144">Mansard Scroll Mirror</a>. I'd been coveting this mirror for a few years but could never justify the $345 price tag.
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fnmkTTNiEGc/UwFNN2VzElI/AAAAAAAAA4U/h6OuH6dguSk/s1600/MansardMirror.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fnmkTTNiEGc/UwFNN2VzElI/AAAAAAAAA4U/h6OuH6dguSk/s640/MansardMirror.jpg" /></a></div>
<br><br>
So here is what mine looked like when I brought it home. The mirror and frame were in great shape, which can't be beat at that price. It had holes where hooks once were which I'm sure is why it was priced so low.
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YioxauSb6SA/UwFJcggPWEI/AAAAAAAAA4I/I5ejBTwKa4E/s1600/MirrorBefore.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YioxauSb6SA/UwFJcggPWEI/AAAAAAAAA4I/I5ejBTwKa4E/s640/MirrorBefore.jpg" /></a></div>
<br><br>
I used my favorite furniture paint - Behr's Antique White tinted primer. (No sanding!)I debated a bit on what to do about the holes, they were larger than I'd like to fill but obviously couldn't leave them open. Eventually I found some ornate wooden ornaments at Home Depot which I painted with leftover wall paint and attachd to cover the holes.
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IQ98kz7iAb0/UwFRhzR0sOI/AAAAAAAAA4g/gxR2an6pSRA/s1600/MirrorAfter.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IQ98kz7iAb0/UwFRhzR0sOI/AAAAAAAAA4g/gxR2an6pSRA/s640/MirrorAfter.png" /></a></div>
<br><br>
I used leftover paint so I was able to create my Restoration Hardware knock-off for only $8! ($5 mirror and $3 for the wooden ornaments) Can't beat that! :)

Raise your hand if it snowed where you live this week! Odds are pretty high that you hand is up. Here in PA we have had one of the snowiest winters that I can remember! I love the snow, I still get excited to wake up to fresh snow. But since I work from home I don't have to go out on crappy days (which is good because I am <b>terrified</b> of driving in snow).
<br><br>

<br><br>
2. My office makeover that's been a year in the making is pretty much complete! I'll be blogging all about it soon but here is a little sneak peek. Obviously I was so focused on my work that I had to snap a picture.
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2KVNonsGX5E/UuiDgnP7dWI/AAAAAAAAA24/caXdor80rgc/s1600/Office.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2KVNonsGX5E/UuiDgnP7dWI/AAAAAAAAA24/caXdor80rgc/s400/Office.jpg" /></a></div>
<br><br>
3. Speaking of the office - I have to share my new artwork! I am seriously in love, <a href="http://www.elizabethmayville.com/Illustration.html">Elizabeth Mayville</a> is amazing. When I showed it to my husband he said "Woah, is that you?!" I like to think it is. :)
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qMJcITCyLlo/UuiEFez4tAI/AAAAAAAAA3M/MIlvYukL2JM/s1600/TopKnotPrint.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qMJcITCyLlo/UuiEFez4tAI/AAAAAAAAA3M/MIlvYukL2JM/s640/TopKnotPrint.jpg" /></a></div>
<br><br>
4. Check out this beauty that I found while thrifting the other day. I immediately sent Brian a photo of "our new dining room set" but sadly it was already sold to some other lucky lady. (I must admit, I am very curious about the room this came out of...and the one its going in to) It gave me a good laugh but it did get me brainstorming. Now I definitely want a tufted, heart-shaped chair for my dressing table.

5. Do you guys watch The Mindy Project? If you don't, you seriously need to! (Go ahead, go watch it...I'll wait) I have been watching last week's season finale on repeat all week. The final scene...!!!!!!!!!!

Since the Mr. and I recently decided to stay in our current rental for awhile longer we are planning a mini kitchen makeover. Obviously there are <b>a lot</b> of things you can't change in a rental kitchen so we are making some minor upgrades and several non-permanent changes. Here is the overall direction we are heading in:
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5N37SJpYH9s/Uuh01wkpZQI/AAAAAAAAA2M/QXYKYpp9GGY/s1600/OB-snapshot.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5N37SJpYH9s/Uuh01wkpZQI/AAAAAAAAA2M/QXYKYpp9GGY/s640/OB-snapshot.jpg" /></a></div>
<br><br>
The plan is to keep a nice balance between feminine & masculine as well as beauty and function. So what is the starting point? Here is what our kitchen looks like at the moment. (I even cleaned for you)
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-x8ry1nBZEj0/Uuh2j4nPUsI/AAAAAAAAA2U/FdyhbNIeYWY/s1600/KitchenBefore.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-x8ry1nBZEj0/Uuh2j4nPUsI/AAAAAAAAA2U/FdyhbNIeYWY/s640/KitchenBefore.jpg" /></a></div>
</center>
<br><br>
As far as rental kitchens go ours isn't too bad...we've definitely lived with worse. (Under counter refrigerator anyone?) We started by identifying what we can't change and brainstorming ways to draw attention <I>away</I> from the less than lovely. The cabinets aren't going anywhere so the plan is to paint the walls in an earthy walnut color to create a more seamless look. Other plans include an area rug, vintage silver elements & a DIY pantry. Stay tuned - the first project is a simple lighting swap!

I always struggle with how to decorate between Christmas and spring. On one hand I looove how big and clean everything looks when the holiday decorations come down, but on the other hand it can be a little stark for my taste. This year I put together a simple Valentine's Day mantelscape that can easily transition to spring.
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OV-hUvfhjZc/Uuhd8kAgLnI/AAAAAAAAA1c/G-y73Jtd7zw/s1600/ValentineMantelMain.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OV-hUvfhjZc/Uuhd8kAgLnI/AAAAAAAAA1c/G-y73Jtd7zw/s640/ValentineMantelMain.png" /></a></div>
<br><br>
I wanted to keep the colors very soft so I shopped around the house for items in shades of cream, pale pink & silvery grey. I started with my go-to mantel anchor, my chippy old window. To create my main element I used my Silhouette machine to cut some whimsical silhouettes of a little girl & dog. Then I simply attached the cutouts to a sheet of pale pink paper and framed the whole thing. Love that glittery heart. Adorbs, right?
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7tXpsEp0iNQ/UuhkbGFMQZI/AAAAAAAAA1s/cEgS3JKjIuM/s1600/SilhouetteClose.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7tXpsEp0iNQ/UuhkbGFMQZI/AAAAAAAAA1s/cEgS3JKjIuM/s640/SilhouetteClose.png" /></a></div>
<br><br>
I loved the round shape of this little dish but it looked too plain by itself. I grabbed a ribbon scrap and hung an old skeleton key over the front.
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-EBY6TYsAGYg/UuhlrzHC99I/AAAAAAAAA10/JUHrttgd56M/s1600/PlateCloseUp.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-EBY6TYsAGYg/UuhlrzHC99I/AAAAAAAAA10/JUHrttgd56M/s640/PlateCloseUp.png" /></a></div>
<br><br>
I added some vases of pink & cream flowers in varied heights to finish it off!
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OV-hUvfhjZc/Uuhd8kAgLnI/AAAAAAAAA1c/G-y73Jtd7zw/s1600/ValentineMantelMain.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OV-hUvfhjZc/Uuhd8kAgLnI/AAAAAAAAA1c/G-y73Jtd7zw/s640/ValentineMantelMain.png" /></a></div>

<br><br>
I can't remember a time when I was so happy to see a year end. Don't get me wrong, 2013 brought a lot of blessings but it was also one of the hardest I've ever experienced. Not only did January 1st bring a new year but also a new moon - so we all got our lunar slates wiped clean. Every January I take a moment to reflect and set mini resolutions for the coming year. I don't make full year resolutions because I feel like I'm just setting myself up for failure. Instead I come up with a list of goals, some large, some small & assign a goal to each month. I won't bore you by listing every one of my goals since half of them are probably the same as yours (eat better, exercise more, appreciate the small stuff, etc.) but I am sharing a few of the major ones.

<br><br><b>POSITIVITY - BETTERING MYSELF</B>
<BR>This is my manta for the year. There is already far too much negativity and I don't want to add to it. I find that half of the "comment" sections online are filled with crappy, petty comments. Constructive criticism is fine but if you're looking to tease, put down or just be nasty - keep on a'movin. I am going to try my hardest to keep my mind & corner of the world a happy, positive place.

<br><br><B>PHOTOGRAPHY - BETTERING MY BUSINESS</B>
<BR>My parents gave me a camera for Christmas (aren't they great?). Up until now most of the product photos I've taken for my business have been taken with my cell phone. It does the job but I am ready for a more professional upgrade. I plan to research & learn as much as I can to improve my photography skills. :)

<br><br><b>BLOG MORE - BETTERING MY BLOG</b>
<br>When things get busy my blog tends to take a backseat to everything else (well, cleaning toilets takes a back, backseat). This year I want to make a conscious effort to keep up with it even when things are crazy. After all, this is how I relax so it is important to carve out some time.

<b>February</b>
<br>brought a well-deserved promotion for my husband, a romantic valentine's dinner and the start of my office makeover (perhaps it will be finished by this February, but I wouldn't want to rush things). It also brought my <a href="http://www.thepinklantern.net/2013/02/coffee-protein-shake.html">favorite breakfast</a>:

<b>March</b><br>
officially started my "busy season" on <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/thepinklantern">etsy</a>. As my business grew I needed to purchase some equipment - first up was a shiny new pink laptop. I was horrible about blogging but I was lucky enough to enjoy a week in (somewhat) sunny Florida with Brian & my parents. Nothing gets you through the winter like knowing you're headed for a warm destination!

<br><br><br>
In <b>April</b>
<br>I was still MIA from the blog but I had time to squeeze in a mini-girls vacay to (definitely not sunny) Michigan. I also had my <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/100930306/as-seen-on-tlcs-four-weddings-ornate-mr?ref=shop_home_active">Mr. Right / Mrs. Always</a> Right Chair Signs featured on an episode of Four Weddings. This was by far the biggest thing to happen to my little business. Thanks to the exposure these signs were definitely one of my most popular items in 2013.

<b>May</b>
<br>brought Brian's 30th birthday and his surprise Beards & Beers Party!

<b>July</b>
<br>brought a blissful month of vacation! I spent lots of time with family swimming, honing my cornhole skills & craft show going. I also ushered in the final year of my 20s by being spoiled with a trip to by favorite place, Mackinac Island.

In<b> August</b>
<br>I squeezed in one final Michigan trip but this time it was a working trip. I also shared one of the <a href="http://www.thepinklantern.net/2013/08/yellow-doors-flip-flop-wreath.html">easy updates</a> my mom has done to their lakehouse (aka "the grey house")

<b>September</b>
<br>brought my favorite season - autumn! I playing in a fantasy football league (and loved it), took my pup to a Phillies game & shared several fall projects. My favorite was definitely my glittery monogrammed <a href="http://www.thepinklantern.net/2013/09/fall-wreath-with-glittery-gold-monogram.html">wreath</a>!

In <b>October</b>
<br>Brian and I celebrated our <b>5th</b> anniversary with a weekend getaway to Atlantic City. We did a little gambling, gorged ourselves at The Melting Pot and even walked the beach. We were a little less than enthused with our hotel though & weren't shocked when they filed for bankruptcy a few weeks later! We've also officially reached the point where our wedding pictures look old - I don't think I've changed that much but I'm still trying to figure out who that other kid in the picture is. ;)

<b>November</b>
<br>Business finally started to slow allowing me to relax a bit & enjoy the holidays. I also reached another business milestone/goal when my <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/109013455/just-married-banner-or-photo-prop-in?ref=shop_home_active">Just Married banner </a>was <a href="http://www.thepinklantern.net/2013/11/my-just-married-banner-on-style-me.html">featured </a>on Style Me Pretty! I had the chance to work with an amazing Florida wedding planner for this photo shoot over the summer - it was SO hard to keep the pics a secret until the feature. :)

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zvrV7-m8zEY/UquHtA5eG_I/AAAAAAAAAxc/MrEtK-gtz20/s1600/PawProtectant.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zvrV7-m8zEY/UquHtA5eG_I/AAAAAAAAAxc/MrEtK-gtz20/s640/PawProtectant.png" /></a></div>
I live in an area that uses rock salt heavily with each winter storm & my poor little pup has sensitive paws. I've been researching an at-home remedy to help him out. <br><br>I had a few requirements: <br>A) It had to be ingestable - since it is inevitable he will lick his paws<br> B) It had to be made of something I could find easily since I wanted it right away
<br><br>
<b>SURPRISE!<br>It's Coconut Oil!</B>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i.walmartimages.com/i/p/00/02/25/06/00/0002250600200_500X500.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i.walmartimages.com/i/p/00/02/25/06/00/0002250600200_500X500.jpg" /></a></div>
<BR><BR>Odds are you already have a jar in the cabinet. I've used it for the last several days and it has made such a difference! Just rub a bit of room temperature oil on the pads of your dogs feet right before heading out the door. My dog was a little confused at first (Why are you rubbing stuff on my feet??) but now he loves it. There has also been research that coconut oil has many health benefits for dogs, some people even bake it into treats. I still wipe his paws when we come in but I don't worry if he does manage to lick some off.
<br><br>
<small><I>note: while this does help protect paws from salt, ice, snow, etc. it does NOT protect from cold temps / frostbite.</I></small>

<br><br>
This is such a fun Christmas craft that is easy to put together - using things you probably have at home. My grandma used to make this for us when we were kids. Now my mom & I have been making it for several years, selling it at various stores / craft shows... people just love it!
<br><br>
<b>Magic Reindeer Dust Recipe:</b>
<br>-1/2 cup Old Fashioned Oats
<br>-1 tbsp Glitter (you can also use sugar or sprinkles)
<br><br>
Mix together & pour into container. Top with our printable tag! (You really don't even need to measure. Surprise, surprise, I like to make mine extra glittery.)

They are <b>SO</b> easy to make! And because they have no knot they are flatter than a traditional bow which also makes them perfect for cards or invitations. You can make these in any size & they use less ribbon than a regular bow!
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5STJ9uPlefY/Uqn3u1IHPdI/AAAAAAAAAvg/SEVDljMJQLo/s1600/BowCloseUp.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5STJ9uPlefY/Uqn3u1IHPdI/AAAAAAAAAvg/SEVDljMJQLo/s640/BowCloseUp.png" /></a></div>
<br><br>
All you need to get started is some ribbon, a pair of scissors & adhesive. I used glue dots you can use tape, hot glue, bubblegum...anything sticky.
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NwM1Gg6gob4/Uqtf_-_wX6I/AAAAAAAAAwU/S5jsVCW8P6U/s1600/RibbonMaking.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NwM1Gg6gob4/Uqtf_-_wX6I/AAAAAAAAAwU/S5jsVCW8P6U/s640/RibbonMaking.png" /></a></div>
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Wcrz8Joav-Y/UqtoRHv1E0I/AAAAAAAAAwk/_O9_EnHU3HM/s1600/BowMakingPic.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Wcrz8Joav-Y/UqtoRHv1E0I/AAAAAAAAAwk/_O9_EnHU3HM/s640/BowMakingPic.png" /></a></div>
<br><br>
<b>1.</b> Cut a strip of ribbon, I wanted a tiny bow so I used a 6 inch strip. Find the center of your strip & place your adhesive there. Fold one tail over & stick to half of the adhesive.
<br><b>2.</b> Repeat with the other tail.
<br><b>3.</b> Cut another small piece of ribbon (you will need 2x the width of your ribbon). Affix a second piece of adhesive over the seam you made on the bow's back. Stick your tiny piece of ribbon vertically to the adhesive, wrap around the front & around the back.
<br><b>4.</b> You are left with an adorable, festive bow!
<br><br>
I original saw these bows in a pinterest pic but when I followed the link the post wasn't in English. This may not be the "correct" way <i>but </i> it works for me! Hopefully this will help inspire some beautifully wrapped presents under your tree. :) <br>Oh! And P.S. my ribbon is from Michael's.

I *love* wrapping presents! In my opinion there is nothing better than a beautifully wrapped package, whether you are giving or getting. This is definitely genetic. I am a wrapping paper hoarder, my sister buys special paper every year that no one else is allowed to touch, and my mom is the reason we use real ribbon on our packages.
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5STJ9uPlefY/Uqn3u1IHPdI/AAAAAAAAAvc/dj7onSE6d6A/s1600/BowCloseUp.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5STJ9uPlefY/Uqn3u1IHPdI/AAAAAAAAAvc/dj7onSE6d6A/s640/BowCloseUp.png" /></a></div>
<br><br>
I am always a little stumped on how to make a package both beautiful & manly. This year I cut names out of old book pages and attached them to a package wrapped in kraft paper. I used my silhouette to cut these but depending on your printer you can also print directly on the book page, set the text to "border" and just cut along the lines. I wrapped the box with some twine & brown ribbon, tied them in a simple knot & finished it off with a "naughty or nice" tag.
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rTk6w326onI/Uqn4umObT7I/AAAAAAAAAvo/jvX6dz7_DwM/s1600/bookpagepackage.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rTk6w326onI/Uqn4umObT7I/AAAAAAAAAvo/jvX6dz7_DwM/s640/bookpagepackage.png" /></a></div>
<br><br>
This is one of my <I>favorites</I> this year. Do you have favorite packages each year? I do, haha. I found some polka dot paper and wrapped thin glitter ribbon around then made a mini bow in the middle! I mean, polka dots, gold glitter & a bow - does it get any cuter?
<BR><BR>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cSHfhr1dmR0/Uqn6gvcoZrI/AAAAAAAAAv0/bUqUw2a7OBY/s1600/Polkadotpackage.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cSHfhr1dmR0/Uqn6gvcoZrI/AAAAAAAAAv0/bUqUw2a7OBY/s640/Polkadotpackage.png" /></a></div>
<br><br>
I also created some printable tags to match my décor!
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6Zl9M6BNzNg/Uqn7WBaefiI/AAAAAAAAAv8/tyJsFdLHhkY/s1600/tagcloseup.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6Zl9M6BNzNg/Uqn7WBaefiI/AAAAAAAAAv8/tyJsFdLHhkY/s640/tagcloseup.png" /></a></div>
<br><br>
Now for the best part - here is a link where you can download the tags seen above... for free!
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WjIyhzIJ9yA/Uqn79BaXf3I/AAAAAAAAAwE/QK54ttneJG0/s1600/taggraphic.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WjIyhzIJ9yA/Uqn79BaXf3I/AAAAAAAAAwE/QK54ttneJG0/s640/taggraphic.jpg" /></a></div>
<br><br>
You can access them <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/1ck2639mcin038k/ChristmasTags.png">here</a>, just print them out and cut along the lines. If you decide to use them leave a quick note in the comments! :)

<br><br>
Like this skinny little woodland tree decorated with snowmen... the tree fills an awkward empty space & the snowmen match our color scheme. Plus I had them already so it didn't cost a thing! I also wrapped a cable knit throw around to cover the base (kind of reminds me of how Linus wraps his blanket around the tree in A Charlie Brown Christmas).
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_5ooAq2srWI/UqbMDZsCm1I/AAAAAAAAAuQ/4MgJ5qwgnfM/s1600/SnowmanTree.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_5ooAq2srWI/UqbMDZsCm1I/AAAAAAAAAuQ/4MgJ5qwgnfM/s640/SnowmanTree.png" /></a></div>
<br><br>
I tied a long satin ribbon around this bunch of mistletoe & hung it over the frames above our bed. I have always loved having mistletoe in the house! :)
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-m4yw7slUyPE/UqbJ3zGlNsI/AAAAAAAAAuE/6uQleJ6OJlg/s1600/mistletoe.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-m4yw7slUyPE/UqbJ3zGlNsI/AAAAAAAAAuE/6uQleJ6OJlg/s640/mistletoe.png" /></a></div>
<br><br>
I found the perfect spot for last year's twine wrapped cone trees on our dresser. And isn't that vintage Santa cute? I love how chippy his paint is.
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-05tZBY6Cg1U/UqbOdg_EsZI/AAAAAAAAAus/ZT0DbRnST9g/s1600/TwineTrees.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-05tZBY6Cg1U/UqbOdg_EsZI/AAAAAAAAAus/ZT0DbRnST9g/s640/TwineTrees.png" /></a></div>
<br><br>
Even my dressing table got a few festive touches! I filled a mercury glass vase with cream Chinese Lanterns & red berries. A happy little elf is the finishing touch. I also have a few Christmas themed novels on my dressing table. They are my guilty pleasure this time of year!

I saw a tree banner in my Pottery Barn catalog and figured why not - I make banners, I like banners, let's put one on the tree. We went back & forth on what it should say and finally decided on...
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-03EYX-rCawc/UqKDGJi5icI/AAAAAAAAArU/XwBY28Ip5Hg/s1600/ChristmasTree1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-03EYX-rCawc/UqKDGJi5icI/AAAAAAAAArU/XwBY28Ip5Hg/s640/ChristmasTree1.png" /></a></div>
<br><br>
Merry & Bright! With a little trial & error I came up with the right size (each letter is about 4" tall) and the right color (FYI gold didn't show up). I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the letters out of white glitter paper. I strung the letters on some oversized bakers twine I picked up an Ikea last Christmas.
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oJZcHQOwPj4/UqKDDlwKIdI/AAAAAAAAArI/RRPfm9BXgH4/s1600/ChristmasTree2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oJZcHQOwPj4/UqKDDlwKIdI/AAAAAAAAArI/RRPfm9BXgH4/s640/ChristmasTree2.png" /></a></div><br><br>
Here are a few of my favorite ornaments this year...
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FD-ec0vLLUg/UqKSU4pILiI/AAAAAAAAAsg/_lsX9Nkkju8/s1600/Ornaments.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FD-ec0vLLUg/UqKSU4pILiI/AAAAAAAAAsg/_lsX9Nkkju8/s640/Ornaments.png" /></a></div><br><br>
And of course, a night shot :) After all that is when the tree is at its finest!
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0erimmp36K0/UqKDAfjfHkI/AAAAAAAAAq8/TScyazihOyM/s1600/ChristmasTree3.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0erimmp36K0/UqKDAfjfHkI/AAAAAAAAAq8/TScyazihOyM/s640/ChristmasTree3.png" /></a></div>
<Br><br>
This is the first year I haven't used ribbon to wrap my tree... one second I miss the ribbon & feel like the tree is naked. Then the next minute I love the change! Here's a little look back at pictures of our trees in past years... and living rooms of past years. :)

The past week has been a blur of turkey sandwiches, pine needles & shopping! I am also working my buns off in preparation to close my shop for a holiday break so needless to say I've been busy busy busy. Here are my favorites for the week :)
<br><br>
<b>Peppermint Mocha Creamer</b>
<br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--krT6Gd9XLI/Up1egcvnGKI/AAAAAAAAAn4/Mj-S0hIHN8M/s1600/peppermintmocha.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--krT6Gd9XLI/Up1egcvnGKI/AAAAAAAAAn4/Mj-S0hIHN8M/s640/peppermintmocha.jpg" /></a></div>
<br><br>
My love of Peppermint Mocha is almost as strong as Pumpkin Spice! While there is nothing better than a coffee shop PM this creamer is a nice substitute (& much better on the wallet).
<br><br>
<b>My Winter Wreath</b>
<br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dcZW23X6R_E/UpvzQsjZeGI/AAAAAAAAAmM/UYOgVcMfcDQ/s1600/FrontDoorWreath.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dcZW23X6R_E/UpvzQsjZeGI/AAAAAAAAAmM/UYOgVcMfcDQ/s640/FrontDoorWreath.png" /></a></div>
<br><br>Earlier this week I <a href="http://www.thepinklantern.net/2013/12/easy-elegant-christmas-wreath-for-under.html">shared</a> where I founds the goods to make this beauty of a wreath for less than $15! Now if my downstairs neighbor would be kind enough to remove her pumpkins... ;)
<br><br>
<b>Be a Bombshell Lip Crayon in Shameless </b>
<br><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-f0WNmXzrsac/Up1qiounfRI/AAAAAAAAAoI/DfhYYjGe_K8/s1600/shamless.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-f0WNmXzrsac/Up1qiounfRI/AAAAAAAAAoI/DfhYYjGe_K8/s400/shamless.jpg" /></a></div>
<br><br>I got this lip crayon in my November<a href="http://www.ipsy.com/r/3iko"> ipsy </a>box. Initially I was sure I would never wear this - if you know me you know I don't wear bold lip colors. Well...what a surprise! I love the color, love the way this goes on & love the way this <I>stays</I> on. Oh, and it is perfect for holiday party season.
<br><br>
<b>Christmas in Paris by Yankee Candle</b>
<br><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-V7FuRLNbJCo/Up1tjhfxGYI/AAAAAAAAAoU/Dp_c67L58Fg/s1600/christmasparis.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-V7FuRLNbJCo/Up1tjhfxGYI/AAAAAAAAAoU/Dp_c67L58Fg/s400/christmasparis.jpg" /></a></div>
<br><br>
I am loving this candle! It is pine-y without being too much. Plus its made with pine extract from France so I feel extra fancy when burning it.
<br><br>
<b>Monogrammed Puffy Vest</b>
<br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XTTuHrOkDD0/Up1zboBmxCI/AAAAAAAAAok/OsGr5vbHuJY/s1600/monogramvest.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XTTuHrOkDD0/Up1zboBmxCI/AAAAAAAAAok/OsGr5vbHuJY/s400/monogramvest.jpg" /></a></div>
<i><a href="http://www.devonalanadesign.com/">devon alana</a></i>
<br>
I've seen this picture floating around Pinterest recently...I definitely need to find someone with an embroidery machine because I need this in my life asap.

<br><br>As promised, here is something a little more traditional than yesterday's Christmas bathroom<a href="http://www.thepinklantern.net/2013/12/even-powder-room-gets-christmas-makeover.html"> post</a>! I created this simple mantle-scape using a few of my favorite holiday pieces. I turned my vintage window frame to create height and added my evergreen "R". I used a strand of battery powered lights to add some glow to this side of the room. (I promise you can't see the light strand in person but boy did the camera pick it up!) Mercury glass trees reflect the lights from the R and also from the tree across the room. Finally I wove a bit of vintage tinsel around the bottom to give it more sparkle. :)

I know what you're thinking. Christmas in the WHAT room?! Think about it though, if you have guests the powder room is one room they almost always visit. Whether you are hosting overnight guests or having a holiday party you can add some Christmas cheer with a few easy additions. And trust me, your guests will notice.
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XIUTJG6D1rk/Up60rPBJ-GI/AAAAAAAAAo0/lTGL1KmielU/s1600/Bathroom.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XIUTJG6D1rk/Up60rPBJ-GI/AAAAAAAAAo0/lTGL1KmielU/s400/Bathroom.png" /></a></div>
<br><br></center>
- Swap your regular hand soap for a <b>holiday scent</B>! Homegoods always has a good seasonal selection, I got my huge bottle for $4!
<br><br>
- You can't go wrong with a <b>seasonal scented candle</b>. I have <b>Comfort & Joy</b> going in my Scenty warmer right now! Another favorite Christmas scent is <B>Christmas in Paris</b> by Yankee Candle. Homegoods (again) always has 100s of higher end candles for next to nothing. <br>(No, this post is not sponsored by Homegoods...I wish!)
<br><br>
-Add a <b>holiday hand towel</b> ...since you need one anyway! Mine is from JoAnn Fabrics. If you're hosting a large gathering single-use guest towels are a great idea. My mother-in-law always does this and I think it's such a nice touch!
<br><br>
-Display a few <b>small decorations</b> if you have room. If you are short on space hang a wreath on the back of the door. A mini tree on the back of your toilet tank. A bowl of glass ornaments or a small figurine...just use what you have!
<br><br>
-Snowflake <b>window clings</b> on the mirror are fun, I loved this as a kid!
<br><br>
-A few <b>sprigs of greenery</b> tucked into the mirror or light fixture add the perfect finishing touch. If you have a live tree this is a great way to use the leftover clippings! It doesn't have to be big to make an impact.
<center>
<br><br><br>So do you decorate your bathroom? I know I go a bit overboard with my holiday decorating but I can't be the only one! Come back tomorrow and I'll show you something a bit more traditional - my Christmas mantle. :)

While we don't have a fireplace we do have a "fantle" (faux mantle) shelf. I always struggle with how to incorporate our stockings into a pretty mantle display so this year I decided to do something a little different.
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZjXs_KRuNL8/Up1P8gaeGYI/AAAAAAAAAnY/eNTCfyamPB8/s1600/Stocking2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZjXs_KRuNL8/Up1P8gaeGYI/AAAAAAAAAnY/eNTCfyamPB8/s640/Stocking2.png" /></a></div>
<br><br>
I got this old ladder over the summer for a steal when one of my favorite stores closed. It was a little darker than I'd like and splattered with paint so I gave it a quick whitewash treatment (thanks for the idea Mom!).
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ri21sbJ_Vxs/Up1QTJRgIsI/AAAAAAAAAng/AOFx0e1roq8/s1600/Stockings3.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ri21sbJ_Vxs/Up1QTJRgIsI/AAAAAAAAAng/AOFx0e1roq8/s640/Stockings3.png" /></a></div>
<br><br>
I tied our stockings to the ladder with satin ribbon, added our initials for a little sparkle and topped it with a vintage Santa!
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gChx0Qf56Zc/Up7C77YjGWI/AAAAAAAAApE/nPmlmeb2e5g/s1600/Stockings4.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gChx0Qf56Zc/Up7C77YjGWI/AAAAAAAAApE/nPmlmeb2e5g/s640/Stockings4.png" /></a></div>

<br><br>
I put this little beauty together over the weekend for less than 15 bucks! I started with a 24" fresh cut fir wreath from Lowes. I bought the same wreath last year on Black Friday & had to have another one this year. Not only does it look great & smell amazing but at $12.98 the price is perfect! It already had pinecones, tiny berries & other greens worked in so I just added a simple burlap bow with extra long ties. I already had this one (reused from last year!) but it is just plain old burlap with a raw edge. Since that was exactly what I did last year I wanted to add a little something new. I was buying a bunch of Dollar Tree plastic ball ornaments for another project when I came across the gold glittery reindeer. It reminded me so much of my grandma so naturally it came home with me & ended up being the perfect finishing touch.
<br><br>
Natural. Rustic. Glam. ...exactly what I'm going for this Christmas.

With Thanksgiving being so late this year everyone seems to be diving headlong into Christmas & I LOVE IT! Our decorations are nearly finished, I've started my shopping & have a baking day planned with my sister. I am planning to share a series of "mini posts" from now until Christmas - its my little way of sharing some holiday cheer. :)
<br><br>
Since today is December 1st what better to share than our advent calendars! Whether it be the chocolate-a-day ones from childhood or the drool worthy Pottery Barn ones these just scream Christmas to me. This year our house has two: a simple magnetic calendar for the grown-ups and a very special dog treat countdown.
<br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-f-3ny4l2xfQ/UpvnKqWpqOI/AAAAAAAAAlY/ycjq5BHTtvs/s1600/AdventCalendar.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-f-3ny4l2xfQ/UpvnKqWpqOI/AAAAAAAAAlY/ycjq5BHTtvs/s400/AdventCalendar.png" /></a></div>
<br> We keep this vintage looking tin advent calendar in our kitchen as a little daily countdown. But the REAL advent calendar in our house is...THE DOG'S!
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4PfwtyksJYI/Upvrv8zJcII/AAAAAAAAAlo/sxKAgVJj7ec/s1600/WrigleyAdvent.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4PfwtyksJYI/Upvrv8zJcII/AAAAAAAAAlo/sxKAgVJj7ec/s400/WrigleyAdvent.png" /></a></div>
<br><br> I used to work at a antique/craft shop and one of the vendors made this for Wrigley. It has 25 little pockets that are just the right size for Milk Bones!
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jRDgE0_yAyM/Upvru_j68bI/AAAAAAAAAlk/NjmdY0jz0UQ/s1600/Wrigley2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jRDgE0_yAyM/Upvru_j68bI/AAAAAAAAAlk/NjmdY0jz0UQ/s400/Wrigley2.png" /></a></div>
<br><br>
I think it's safe to say he is the boss in our household.

That's how I felt this week. My office looks like a tornado blew through, but somehow I think that is the mark of a successful week. :)
<br><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zf71U8RvsYY/UjKrDWo-ePI/AAAAAAAAAkg/A01MGBI0gGs/s1600/avicii.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zf71U8RvsYY/UjKrDWo-ePI/AAAAAAAAAkg/A01MGBI0gGs/s640/avicii.jpg" /></a></div>
<b>1.</b> I've had "Wake Me Up" by Avicii & Aloe Blacc stuck in my head all week...its such a feel good song!
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3stduWUAkcY/UjKrmfDIWOI/AAAAAAAAAko/LyU5QWVr2Bg/s1600/Philllies.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3stduWUAkcY/UjKrmfDIWOI/AAAAAAAAAko/LyU5QWVr2Bg/s640/Philllies.jpg" /></a></div>
<br><b>2.</b> Tuesday was the Phillies 1st ever Bark at the Park, so of course we HAD to go. Look at that face, Wrigley was lovin' it. The Phillies and PAWS did such a good job with the event! The dogs were all in a rooftop section of the ballpark and since dog people are the best people we made lots of new friends. We were on the big screen several times and even made it on the tv broadcast!
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Mu4ZLd75hwA/UjKs9r7ZggI/AAAAAAAAAk0/bOgdScHoE24/s1600/geisha.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Mu4ZLd75hwA/UjKs9r7ZggI/AAAAAAAAAk0/bOgdScHoE24/s640/geisha.jpg" /></a></div>
<br><b>3.</b> I've kept a "Plan to read" list for as long as I can remember and <b>Memoirs of a Geisha</b> has been on it <i>forever</I>. I finally picked it up this week and am kicking myself for not reading it sooner, it is SO good. (I know I'm like 10 years behind on this one...)
<br><br>

<br><b>4.</b> My mom has been torturing me with beautiful lake photos for the last few days. How gorgeous was this sunset? Oh, to have that view...makes me lakesick, time to go back!
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-70xhVv39tkY/UjKkkKL85bI/AAAAAAAAAkQ/yqrflfnqRb8/s1600/911Pic.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-70xhVv39tkY/UjKkkKL85bI/AAAAAAAAAkQ/yqrflfnqRb8/s640/911Pic.jpg" /></a></div>
<br><b>5.</b> There is a 9/11 Memorial park near my house so on Wednesday I decided to take my lunch over and spend some time there. It is such a beautifully done, serene tribute to all who died with special memorials for those from Pennsylvania and the 17 from Bucks County. I can't believe it has been 12 years...

<small><I>eek, sorry for the grainy pic!</small></I>
<br><br>
With the exception of my <a href="http://www.thepinklantern.net/2013/09/gilded-gold-silver-pumpkins.html">Rub 'n Buff Pumpkins</a> I was able to put this display together with items found around the house. I started with my trusty old window and a simple kraft paper & twine banner I whipped up using my Silhouette.
<br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Edp8RgGUWio/UiF8ScJ7A-I/AAAAAAAAAi0/hZ_7sMoQubg/s1600/FallBanner.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Edp8RgGUWio/UiF8ScJ7A-I/AAAAAAAAAi0/hZ_7sMoQubg/s640/FallBanner.png" /></a></div>
<br><br>
I added a glitzy gold pumpkin & plate with skeleton key.
<br><br>
