Oh hello, Friday!

So you know that scene from Elf when Will Ferrell is making paper snowflakes, his hands are moving a mile a minute and paper is flying everywhere? That's how I felt this week. My office looks like a tornado blew through, but somehow I think that is the mark of a successful week. :)

1. I've had "Wake Me Up" by Avicii & Aloe Blacc stuck in my head all week...its such a feel good song!

2. Tuesday was the Phillies 1st ever Bark at the Park, so of course we HAD to go. Look at that face, Wrigley was lovin' it. The Phillies and PAWS did such a good job with the event! The dogs were all in a rooftop section of the ballpark and since dog people are the best people we made lots of new friends. We were on the big screen several times and even made it on the tv broadcast!

3. I've kept a "Plan to read" list for as long as I can remember and Memoirs of a Geisha has been on it forever. I finally picked it up this week and am kicking myself for not reading it sooner, it is SO good. (I know I'm like 10 years behind on this one...)

4. My mom has been torturing me with beautiful lake photos for the last few days. How gorgeous was this sunset? Oh, to have that view...makes me lakesick, time to go back!

5. There is a 9/11 Memorial park near my house so on Wednesday I decided to take my lunch over and spend some time there. It is such a beautifully done, serene tribute to all who died with special memorials for those from Pennsylvania and the 17 from Bucks County. I can't believe it has been 12 years...

Favorite Nautical Bedroom

I am helping design "my" bedroom at the lake. Brian came up with a red, white & blue color scheme (he really wanted a Phillies theme). Those colors lend themselves to a nautical theme perfectly. I love how this room is nautical without being overly themed.

Isn't this beautiful? My friend did a waterfall rope braid in my hair for a wedding. It was perfect for a hot summer evening!

Our lives have become so centered on social media and sharing even the mundane. Unless it is something really special I just don't see the need to share what/where I ate for dinner, what I bought at the grocery store or that my dog is house broken. It can be easy to fall into the trap of doing things for the adulation of others but I try hard to do what truly make me happy.

Friday Favs

Happy Friday all, I am celebrating the fact that I am now officially on vacation until July 7th!! Next weekend we have the wedding of some great friends, it should be quite the party! Then Brian & I are hopping in the car and heading to visit my parents in Michigan. Just 7 days until we are relaxing lakeside and recharging our batteries in my favorite place! Sunburst mirrors have been going strong for awhile now but some of them can be SO expensive. I've seen some great DIY versions, but this one from The Home Depot is just $35! I'd hate to drop big $$ on something so trendy, but at that price you can't lose.

What would a Friday Favorites post be without shoes?! I love Tory Burch flip flops, they are the best I've ever owned. These lobster printed ones are so cute.
